Custom Widgets 2.0 Released

One of the things that worried me about the plugin is its interface for how you configured widgets. Thankfully, Tom has redesigned the interface from the ground up so it’s more intuitive.

WordCamp Miami Presentation: WP Framework
One of our favorite WordCamp Miami presentations was Ptah Dunbar’s session in which he showed off his latest project, WPFramework. WPFramework is a blank WordPress theme framework that is aimed to cut down on the time it takes to develop a theme. As Ptah puts it, it’s “everything you need and nothing you don’t”. How to Make Your Wordpress Theme Widget Ready
How can I widgetize my Wordpress theme? This is one of the most common questions newbie’s ask when they start out creating Wordpress themes. Sadly, I can’t find that tutorial anymore, so I figured I’d replace it with one by me.

Professional Frontend Engineering
Last night, long after I should have fallen asleep, I came across a fantastic overview of “frontend engineering.” This is a must-watch video, presented by Nate Koechley. Many designers will get more from this video than an entire book. Nate covers everything from underused html tags, to doctypes, to proper naming conventions. I highly recommend watching it.
