Unknown to most, the process of designing and creating web sites takes a time. Most businesses who need to have sites setup need to be familiar on the phases of web design and development so that they understand the importance of time invested by the design and development team for the final output.
Phase 1: Gathering of Information
In this phase, the team gathers information from their client or the business owner. The purpose here is to be aware of the client needs and the requirements of the web site. Questions about the purpose, goals and the target audience for the web site are asked. It should be clear if the site is promoting a service, selling a product or providing information. Goals can be for revenue or for simply sharing information. The sex, age, interests are some factors that need to be considered for the target audience.
Phase 2: Planning
During the planning, a site map is developed. This is a guide to what contents will be displayed on the site, and this is also a map of how to navigate the site. Every information from Phase 1 is used to create this plan.
Phase 3: Designing
The site’s look and feel will be determined here. A prototype is created to be submitted to the client. This is also the stage wherein ideas are exchanged until such point that the client agrees to the final design of the site.
Phase 4: Coding
This is the stage where the site is created. With the prototype as a guide, a functional site is created. During this stage, the development team also determines the best web scripts to use for the site.
Phase 5: Testing/Delivery
The quality team works through checking every page in the site and running tests to make sure that there are no errors or bugs in the system.
Once approved, the site is uploaded to the client server. A final testing is done to ensure everything is uploaded correctly. After the site is launched, this is now viewable by the public.
Phase 6: Maintenance
This is the phase where the updates are done by web designer in Perth upon requests or if there are any features the clients wants to add.
